Harding leads Wildcats to 83-69 win

OGDEN - Jerrick Harding scored a season-high 36 points as Weber State closed out its non-conference season with an 83-69 win over Delaware State Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center.
The Wildcats closed the non-conference season with a 6-5 record and will open Big Sky play next weekend.
WSU got off to a slow start as the Hornets jumped out to an early five-point lead. The Wildcats closed the final five minutes of the first half on a 17-4 run and took a 40-28 lead at halftime.
The second half was all Weber State as the 'Cats jumped out to a 20-point lead midway through the half. The Hornets fought back and cut the lead to nine points with 3:23 remaining, but Weber State went on a 7-0 run in less than a minute to break the game open and seal the win.
The Wildcats shot 45 percent from the field and held the Hornets to 37 percent shooting. WSU also outrebounded Delaware State 41-35 and was 23 of 27 from the free throw line.
Harding had his best game of the season, finishing with a season-high 36 points. He was 9 of 17 from the field, 5 of 10 from 3-point range and finished the game 13 of 13 from the free throw line, which is the fifth best single-game performance in school history.
Brekkott Chapman had his second-straight double-double as he finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds, to go along with four blocked shots.
Cody John added 10 points, six rebounds and three assists and Zach Braxton finished with eight points and eight rebounds.
The Wildcats will begin the 20-game Big Sky Conference season on Dec. 29 at Eastern Washington.
