Wildcats drop road game at Fresno State

Weber State saw it's two-game winning streak snapped as the Wildcats fell 71-52 at Fresno State Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center.
The Wildcats shot a season-low 33 percent from the field, finishing the game 17 of 51 shooting. The 'Cats also tied a season-low with four 3-pointers, as they shot just 4 of 20 from 3-point range. Weber State was also outrebounded 45-31.
WSU led 15-12 early with eight minutes left in the first half when Fresno State closed the half on an 18-5 run and took a 30-20 lead at halftime. The Wildcats shot just 26 percent from the field in the first half.
The Bulldogs started the second half on a 12-2 run and led by 20 points early in the second half, and the Wildcats were never closer than 14 points the rest of the way.
"Fresno State's defense was really good against us tonight," said Weber State head coach Randy Rahe. "Their length and athleticism really got to us. We had some open shots early that didn't go down and we pressed a little bit. Our defense was pretty good and we got some good looks they just wouldn't drop. It's good to play teams like this and these games will make us better and we can learn from it."
Cody John led the Wildcats with 17 points on 6 of 12 shooting, scoring in double figures for the eighth straight game. Jerrick Harding added 13 points with six rebounds and Israel Barnes had eight points.
The Wildcats drop to 5-3 on the season and face another Mountain West Conference team Saturday afternoon as they take on Utah State in the Zion's Bank Beehive Classic at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City. Tipoff with the Aggies is at 2:30, which follows Utah and BYU who play at noon.
