Weber State senior Jordan Cross is NCAA bound! Cross qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time in his career late Friday night at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Sacramento.
Cross posted a time of 8:41.72 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the meet, finishing third in his heat and seventh overall to earn a qualifying spot for the NCAA Championships. The time is less than half a second off the WSU all-time top 10 list.
It's been a great month for Cross, who two weeks ago won the Big Sky title in the steeplechase at the conference meet in Moscow, Idaho.
Cross will now run at the NCAA meet June 6-9, in Eugene, Oregon.
Also at the NCAA West meet, senior Anthony Gregory just missed qualifying for the NCAA's in the high jump. He tied his seasonal best with a mark of 6-11 and had a jump off for the final spots in the NCAA meet, before finishing 13th overall.
Summer Harper came in 26th in the women's steeplechase with a time of 10:16.72. That time ranks as the seventh best in WSU history. Freshman Kate Sorensen was 33rd in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:00.05 and Abbi Brecht finished 34th in the women's high jump at 5-07.
