Wildcats head to BYU Friday to open 2019 season

The Weber State University men's tennis team will open the 2019 season as they take on BYU Friday, January 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Provo, Utah. 

"I am very excited for the season to start," said head coach Brad Ferreira. "The boys have been working hard over the break and are playing well."

In the 2018 season, junior Kris van Wyk won 13 singles matches in the #2 spot, and was named to the All-Big Sky Singles First Team.

Michiel Van Schoor went 15-5 on the singles side which placed him second on the all singles leader board last season. Van Schoor earned All-Big Sky Singles Honorable Mention in 2018. 

"Excited for our new guys Junhao and Paul to get a couple matches under their belt and see how they compete," Ferreira said. "Looking forward to another great season from this solid group." 

The 'Cats won't have a long break as they take on Utah State on Sunday, January 13 at 10 a.m in Logan, Utah.

WSU is coming off of 12-10 overall record and finished 8-3 in Big Sky play in 2018 and were picked No. 5 in the Big Sky preseason polls.
