Wildcat cross country races at NCAA Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, IN - The Weber State women's cross country team finished 25th in a field of 37 teams, and the men's team finished 9th out of 38 at the NCAA Pre-National meet, which included 21 nationally ranked teams.

Both the women and men ran in the competitive seeded race. The races were held at The LaVerne Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. The course is rolling and challenging.

The Wildcat women finished with a team score of 610 which earned a 25th place finish. 

Junior Abby Lawrence performed well and led Weber State with a time of 20:44.7 to earn 35th place out of 258 racers. Senior Lexie Thompson came in next with a time of 20:51.3 to earn 39th. Laurie Murphy finished 153rd with a time of 21:56.3, and Cheyenne Leatham came in at 22:12.5 to finish in 184th.

The Wildcat men finished with a team score of 307 to earn the 9th place finish. They beat two nationally ranked teams, Arkansas (27th) and Oklahoma State (14th).

Sophomore Christian Allen led the Weber State team finishing 40th out of 266 racers with a time of 24:21.2. Taylor Dillon finished next for the Wildcats with a time of 24:27.0 to earn 51st. Junior Dallin Leatham finished 64th overall with a time of 24:33.1, and Austin Byrer came in 73rd with a time of 24:36.7. The 79th finisher was Bronson Winter with a time of 24:39.9.

The Wildcats focus their sights on their next meet at the Big Sky Championships in Greeley, Colorado on November 2nd.
