Wildcat men take second; women fourth at Big Sky meet

The Weber State men's team finished second and the women's team was fourth at the 2019 Big Sky Cross Country Championships. The meet was held Saturday morning at Boomerang Golf Course in Greeley, Colorado.Â
Men
The Wildcat men finished second for the second-straight year. Three-time defending national champion Northern Arizona won the meet for the fourth consecutive year.Â
Weber State totaled 40 points to claim second place. WSU had three athletes earn All-Big Sky honors by finishing in the top 10 and five Wildcats finished in the top 13.Â
Sophomore Taylor Dillon was Weber State's top finisher taking fourth place with a time of 26:58.0 on the 8K course. Senior Jordan Cross was right behind in fifth place at 27:04.8. Sophomore CHristian Allen came in seventh place with a time of 27:09.6.
Junior Dallin Leatham was 11th at 27:23.1 and Tyson Green finished in 13th place at 27:31.2.Â
NAU had 24 points to take first. Montana State was third with 74 points and Southern Utah was fourth with 102.Â
Women
On the women's side, the Wildcats finished fourth overall with a total of 94, just four points out of second place.Â
Two Wildcats earned All-Big Sky honors, led by senior Lexie Thompson who was fourth overall, posting a time of 18:19.8 on the 5K course. Junior Abby Lawrence also earned all-conference honors by finishing in seventh place at 18:22.2.
Isabella Williams was WSU's third finisher, taking 21st overall with a time of 19:12.0, followed by Bailey Wall in 27th at 19:22.6 and freshman Laurie Murphy in 36th place at 19:42.7.
Northern Arizona won the women's race with 36 points.

Both Wildcat teams will next compete at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships on Nov. 15 at Rose Park Golf Course in Salt Lake City, looking to qualify for the NCAA Championships.Â
