Weber State wrapped the Silicon Valley Classic II by taking on San Jose State and ended up falling 8-0.
The first inning went scoreless for both teams. WSU's infield defenders started things out strong in that first inning holding SJSU to three batters up and three batters down.
In the second inning, at the plate, the Wildcats struggled to string together consistency. Faith Hoe started the inning with a double to right field but was stranded on base. In the bottom of two, SJSU found success with five hits that rocked in four RBIs to take a 4-0 lead over WSU.
Weber State came up with two hits in the third inning but couldn't get runners all the way around the bases and left two on base. Defensively in the third inning, WSU allowed just one hit but execute a double play to get out of the inning.
The fourth inning went scoreless for both teams and heading into the fifth inning, WSU still trailed just 4-0.
In the top of the fifth, Sydney White started things off with a double to left center. She advanced to third and Landi Hawker drew a walk to put runners on the corners. Weber State found themselves in an ideal situation but still couldn't capitalize on it leaving both runners on base as the inning came to a close.
In the bottom of five, SJSU found their offensive groove and didn't look back rocking six hits and got four runners across the plate to claim the 8-0 victory.
Weber State falls to 4-14 overall on the season and will have one more preseason tournament before hosting Utah State in the home opener on March 20 at 4:00 p.m. and starting Big Sky play on March 22-23 at Northern Colorado.
