WSU drops fourth straight 6-1 at Southern Utah

Weber State University's men's tennis fell 6-1 on the road against Southern Utah Sunday afternoon.
"SUU played very well today to come away with a strong win," head coach Brad Ferreira said. "We are having strong performances in the beginning but aren't maintaining our efforts at the end to capture match wins. Our team needs to step up our efforts and play to win," he said.
Weber State had a slow start as SUU captured the doubles point after clinching wins in the No. 2 and 1 spots. Kris van Wyk and Junhao Ye had a tough battle against Salvador Mijares and Agustin Tamagnone and ultimately fell 6-4.
Paul Ohde and Michiel Van Schoor also had a close match in the No.2 spot but fell 6-4 to Conor Tordoff and Jonathan Morales. Bo-Han Li and Cezary Walkusz were tied 5-5 against Keonho Shin and Remus Cope before the match was called.
In singles action, The Thunderbirds claimed the first three matches for a 4-0 lead to clinch the match win.
On the No.3 court, Ohde came away with Weber's lone match point as he defeated Tamagnone. He easily captured the first set, but Tamagnone rallied to tie it up 1-1 going into the third set where Ohde clutched the third set to win the match, 6-2,1-6,6-2.
Weber State is now 4-11 overall on the season and 2-3 in conference play. The 'Cats will take on Idaho State, Thursday at 2 pm in Pocatello, ID.
