Wildcats drop two on day two of Silicon Valley Classic II

Weber State softball dropped two on the second day of the Silicon Valley Classic II in Santa Clara, CA.
Weber State found some offensive momentum against UC Davis and despite a strong performance fell 13-8.
This is the third time the Wildcats have faced off against the Aggies this season, the first time WSU picked up a 7-2 win, the second time WSU lost 9-0.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Wildcats quickly put a runner in scoring position. Chloe Camareo rocked a triple to right center scoring the runner and putting the Wildcats on the board.
Brooke Moeai followed the triple up with a double to center field for an RBI. Ashlyn Visser then had a single to left field . Runners on the corner and Sadie Blacker flied out to center field for an RBI. As the inning came to a close WSU had three runs, off of three hits.
In the second and third innings the Wildcat defense did their jobs allowing just one person on base and no runs. In the bottom of the third, WSU's offensive momentum picked back up, starting with a homerun by Brook Moeai over the center field fence. Â Blacker followed that up with a double to right center, Courtney Pestka then had a double to right field for an RBI.
After three complete innings of play, the Wildcats had a 5-1 lead over the Aggies. In the top of the fourth inning, UC Davis went off and scored five runs off of five hits and one error. In the bottom of the fourth, Weber State moved a runner to scoring position early and then had runners on the corner. Moeai then came up with a single to right field for an RBI.
After four innings, Weber State was tied 6-6. Â In the bottom of the fifth, Faith Hoe hit a two run homer to give WSU an 8-6 lead. In the top of the sixth, UC Davis put up seven runs to run away with a 13-8 lead. Weber State couldn't answer with a comeback and the Wildcats fell 13-8.
In the second game of the day, Weber State took on Cal State Northridge and fell 7-1. The Matadors got an early 5-0 jump on WSU.
Weber State was able to get one run across in the top of the fifth. McKell McCuistion started the top of five off with a single to center field. Emily Lyman followed in suit with a single through the right side. With runners in scoring position, Landi Hawker got up to bat and knocked a double for an RBI to put WSU on the board. The Wildcats couldn't find any more offensive momentum the remainder of the game and ended up falling 7-1.
Weber State is now 4-13 overall on the season and will take on San Jose State tomorrow.
