CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Weber State men's golf team wrapped up the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Tuesday, finishing in 17th place at Whirlwind Golf Club with a three round total of 884.
The Wildcats shot an impressive 288 in the opening round, but slipped over the next two rounds with scores of 297 and 299.
Jayce Frampton turned in a great performance to lead the team. He opened the tournament with six birdies en route to a 3-under-par 69 on Monday morning. He added a 1-over-par 73 with another three birdies in the afternoon, and wrapped up the tournament with a 1-under-par 71 behind three more birdies on Tuesday. For the event, he posted a 3-under-par total of 213, which tied him for 20th overall. Another three birdies in the final round ran his tournament total to 12.
Hunter Howe posted rounds of 74, 74 and 76 to tie for 77th overall at 8-over-par 224. Reese Fisher opened his tournament with a 1-under-par 71 and a 1-over-par 73 on Monday, but struggled to a closing round 81 to tie for 85th at 9-over-par 225. He was joined by Sean Badger, who shot 74-77-74 to also shoot 225. Boston Watts rounded out the Wildcat scoring team with a total of 237 to tie for 114th place.
UCLA posted a tournament total of 841 to claim the team championship. The Bruins were led by individual medalist Cole Madey, who shot a 13-under-par 203 to tie John Murdock of Wyoming atop the leaderboard after 54 holes. Madey took the individual championship, defeating Murdock in a playoff.
The Wildcats will next head to Santa Barbara, Calif. to compete in the OGIO UCSB Intercollegiate at Sandpiper Golf Club on Apr. 15-16.
