OGDEN - On a cold, rainy night at Stewart Stadium, fifth-ranked Weber State got off to a fast start and held on for a 29-17 win over ninth-ranked Northern Iowa in a top-10 showdown Saturday night.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 17-0 lead just less than 10 minutes into the game.

On WSU's first play from scrimmage, Kaden Jenks found Rashid Shaheed for a 73-yard touchdown pass to give the 'Cats a 7-0 lead. UNI fumbled the kickoff return and four plays later, Trey Tuttle connected on a 25-yard field goal to make it 10-0.

On the next UNI possession, Brody Burke intercepted a pass, which gave the Wildcats the ball again, Kris Jackson converted on a two-yard touchdown run to make it 17-0 with 5:43 to play in the first quarter.

WSU led 20-3 at the end of the first quarter after a Tuttle 41-yard field goal.

Midway through the second quarter Jenks found Justin Malone for a 13-yard touchdown to make it 27-3.
WSU scored just two points in the second half after picking up a safety in the third quarter but was able to hold off the Panthers to secure the win.

Weber State finished with 285 yards of total offense with 219 passing and 66 yards rushing. Northern Iowa had 384 yards of total offense with 165 rushing and 219 passing.

The Wildcats were 5 of 16 on third down conversions and forced two Panther turnovers.
