Game notes: Weber State plays at Boise State Sunday

12/11/2020 3:05:00 PM | Men's Basketball

• After an eventful day that saw a cancellation and a quick addition, the Weber State men's basketball team hits the road for the first time this year to play at Boise State Sunday afternoon at ExtraMile Arena in Boise. The game will be streamed online through the Mountain West Digital Network and be broadcast on the radio on 103.1 FM "The Wave". Video, audio and live stats links at WeberStateSports.com.

• The Wildcats had their second game of the season canceled on Thursday when the Saturday game against Utah State was canceled due to COVID-19 results in the Aggie program. Just a few hours later, Weber State was able to add Sunday's game at Boise State.

• Weber State is 2-0 on the season after season opening wins over Adams State and Westminster. Through two games, senior transfer point guard Isiah Brown has been the leader of the Wildcats. He scored 26 points against Adams State and followed that up with 29 points against Westminster. After two games, Brown ranks fourth in the nation in scoring at 27.5 points per game and ranks second in the Big Sky in assists (4.5) and steals (2.5) and third in 3-point field goal percentage (.462).

• Senior Cody Carlson has scored in double figures in both games and is averaging 14.5 points per game. He also ranks third in the nation in field goal percentage at 84.6 percent.

• Weber State ranks fifth in the nation and first in the Big Sky in free throw percentage at 83.9 percent.

• Boise State is 3-1 on the season and has won three-straight, including a 74-70 win at BYU on Wednesday. They also have wins over Sam Houston State and College of Idaho. Five players are averaging in double figures scoring. The Broncos were 20-12 overall last year and were picked to finish second in the Mountain West preseason polls this year.

• This is the 73rd all-time meeting between the two schools but the first since 2005. Boise State was a member of the Big Sky from 1970-1996. The Wildcats hold a 42-28 all-time series lead and are 18-16 in Boise. The last game was in December 2005 in Boise, a 74-66 Bronco win.

• Starting with Sunday's game, the Wildcats will play their next five games away from the Dee Events Center. After Sunday, WSU will open Big Sky play at Portland State on Friday and Sunday. The 'Cats take on BYU in Salt Lake City on Dec. 23 and at Idaho State on Dec. 31 before four-straight home games.
