Women's cross country takes 13th at Notre Dame meet

Bilie Hatch was WSU's top finisher, taking 18th overall and Wildcats beat three nationally ranked teams.
The Weber State women's cross country team finished 13th at the prestigious Joe Paine Notre Dame Invitational Friday morning in South Bend, Indiana.Â
The Wildcats finished 13th overall with 336 points in the 25-team race, which included 12 nationally ranked teams. The 'Cats defeated three nationally ranked teams including host Notre Dame, Indiana and Princeton, as well as Utah schools Southern Utah and Utah Valley.Â
Billie Hatch was Weber State's top runner. The senior finished 18th overall with a time of 16:41.4 on the 5K course.
Senior Summer Allen came in next in 39th place, posting a time of 16:55.5. Cheyenne Leatham was WSU's third runner, taking 79th place at 17:18.7. Rylie Lusk was 81st at 17:20.0 and Bailey Wall finished 122nd with a time of 17:36.4.Â
"This was by far the most competitive field this meet has ever had and one of the best meets in the country," said WSU head coach Paul Pilkington. "They did a great job to beat three nationally ranked teams and I was really pleased with our performance."
The Wildcats will next compete at the NCAA Pre-National meet, October 15th in Tallahassee, Florida. The Big Sky Championships will be October 29th in Portland, Oregon.Â
