This upcoming Sunday afternoon, the (5-5, 2-0) Weber State Wildcats will play host to the (0-11-1, 0-2) Idaho State Bengals at the Wildcat Soccer Field.
The Wildcats have gotten off to an electric start in Big Sky play, rallying from behind in both their 2-1 win over Idaho last Friday and their 2-1 victory over EWU later that weekend on Sunday.
In the battle vs Idaho, the Wildcats saw two dazzling goals from Yira Yoggerst who tied the game at 1-1 with help from an assist by Morgan Furmaniak, then the golden goal by Taylor Slack in overtime who nailed a header into the back of the net off a pretty pass from Lauren McConnell.
Then against EWU, WSU was able to tie the game with just under 75 minutes left after another Furmaniak - Yoggerst connection which this time resulted in Furmaniak scoring the goal and Yoggerst collected the assist. The go-ahead goal came when Harlee Turnbow launched a shot towards the keeper which deflected off the crossbar and off the goalie then into the back of the net.Â
Kaytlin Bradley and Mekell Moss were both pivotable in those two games, Bradley was in the box against Idaho while Moss was keeper vs EWU and they both pitched second-half shutouts which helped the Wildcats mount its comebacks.Â
Last weekend's goals were the fourth of the year for Furmaniak and the first of the year for both Yoggerst and Slack.
Sunday's battle against ISU will be the 11th game in Head Coach Craig Sanders' second season as the leader of the Wildcats. Last spring was his inaugural season where he had a record of 4-3-3.
With their flawless 2-0 record in conference play, the Wildcats are sitting atop the standings and will be looking to make the jump to 3-0 and keep that hold on at least a share of first place.
Sunday's match will be streamed on ESPN+ and will kick off at 1 P.M.Â
