Wildcat cross country heads to Big Sky Championships

Big Sky Championships will be October 29 in Portland.
It's conference championship time for Weber State cross country. The Wildcat men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the 2021 Big Sky Championships this Friday, October 29 in Portland, Oregon.Â
The meet will be held at Meriweather National Golf Club in Hillsboro, Oregon, hosted by Portland State. The women's 5K race will start at 11 a.m. Pacific time (12 p.m. MT), followed by the men's 8K race at 12 p.m. Pacific time (1 p.m. MT). Both Weber State teams enter the conference meet after strong regular season performances.Â
The Wildcat women's team enters the meet ranked eighth in the Mountain Region, behind only Northern Arizona in the Big Sky. The Wildcats have performed well throughout the season and have been led by seniors Summer Allen and Billie Hatch. WSU finished 13th at the Notre Dame Invitational, their last meet, and Hatch was 18th overall.Â
On the men's side, the Wildcats have been nationally ranked this season and are currently ranked ninth in the very deep Mountain Region. Northern Arizona is ranked first in the country. Montana State and Southern Utah are just ahead of the Wildcats in the Mountain region rankings. Junior Christian Allen has led the Wildcats in each race this season.Â
Following the Big Sky Championships, both teams will compete at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships on November 12 in Provo, looking to qualify for the NCAA Championships.Â
