Wildcats win first road game 63-59 at Duquesne

PITTSBURGH - Weber State made a big second half rally to pick up a 63-59 win at Duquesne Monday night in Pittsburgh in the first road game of the season.
The Wildcats trailed by nine points at halftime before a big second half to pick up a road win. Koby McEwen had a season-high 21 points to lead the Wildcats and knocked down five 3-pointers.
How it happened
The Wildcats held a 19-18 lead with 5:52 to play in the first half when the Dukes went on an 11-0 run over the next three minutes and took a 29-19 lead. Duquesne led 32-23 at halftime as both teams shot 35 percent from the field in the first half. The Dukes outrebounded the Wildcats 11-1 on offensive boards in the first half.
The second half was a different story as the Wildcats shot 52 percent from the field.

The game was tied 50-50 when the 'Cats went on a 7-2 run to take a 57-52 lead with 4:06 to play.
Duquesne responded to tie the game at 59-59 before the Wildcats scored the final four points to seal the win.
Numbers to know
Weber State finished the game shooting 43 percent and held the Dukes to 35 percent. The Wildcats Both teams knocked down six 3-pointers and WSU forced 20 Duquesne turnovers.
McEwen was 5 of 13 from the field with all five field goals as 3-pointers. He also knocked down six 3-pointers for his game-high 21 points. Dillon Jones had a double-double in his second-straight game with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. He was also 3 of 4 from the field and had three assists.
Cody Carlson added 10 points on 5 of 8 shooting and JJ Overton had eight points along with three rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocked shots. Seikou Sisoho Jawara had eight points and a game-high four assists.

"I was really pleased with our defensive effort and our togetherness. We played with a lot of toughness tonight against our first Division I opponent. We didn't play great but we found a way to win. We were able to get the ball moving in the second half and play better offensively."

The Wildcats stay on the road for three games at the Jersey Mike Classic this weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida. Weber State will play another Atlantic-10 team in UMass on Thursday, November 18 at 3:30 Mountain time. The game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
Weber State will play Ball State on Friday at 3:30 and Green Bay on Sunday at 10 a.m. Mountain time.
