Weber State host NAU Thursday and Saturday

Weber State returns to the Dee Events Center for two games this week against Northern Arizona. The Wildcats will host the Lumberjacks on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 12 p.m. Both games will be streamed online on Pluto TV 1054 and WatchBigSky.com as well as on the radio on 103.1 FM "The Wave".Â

ABOUT THE WILDCATS Â
Weber State is 12-54 overall and 6-3 in Big Sky play heading into this weekend. The Wildcats are coming off a road split at Montana last week. Weber State lost 80-67 on Thursday in Missoula, but bounced back with a 91-82 win over the Grizzlies on Saturday.Â
The Wildcats have won five of their last six and nine of their last 11 games heading into this week.Â
WSU has just six games scheduled the rest of the season before the Big Sky Tournament.Â
WEBER STATE IS SECOND IN THE NATION IN 3-POINT SHOOTING Â
Weber State is currently second in the country in 3-point field goal percentage. The Wildcats are shooting 40.3 percent on 3-pointers this season and trail only No. 2 Baylor in 3-point percentage. The Wildcats have shot 40 percent or better from beyond the arc in nine of the 17 games this season. The 'Cats have also made 10 or more 3-pointers eight times this season and are 7-1 in those games. Â
NATIONAL RANKINGS Â
In addition to 3-point shooting, the Wildcats rank high in the nation in several other offensive categories. Weber State is seventh in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 83.9 points per game. WSU has scored 80 or more points 11 times this season and are 11-0 in those games. WSU is just 1-5 when scoring less than 80 points in a game.Â
Weber State is also ninth in the country in field goal percentage at 50.6 percent. WSU shot 62 percent from the field in Saturday's win at Montana. The 'Cats are also 12th in the country in free throw percentage at 78.6 percent and rank 22nd in scoring margin at +13.2.Â
ISIAH BROWN LEADS WILDCATS IN ROAD WIN Â
Weber State senior Isiah Brown led Weber State in scoring in Saturday's win, finishing with 21 points. The Seattle, Washington native was 6 of 8 from the field in the game, including 2 of 2 on 3-pointers and was a perfect 7 of 7 from the free throw line. It was the sixth time this season he has scored 20 or more points in a game and he has reached double figures in 16 of WSU's 17 games.
Brown currently ranks third in the Big Sky in scoring at 17.6 points per game. He is also third in the conference in field goal percentage at 48.3 percent. He ranks fourth in free throw percentage and is eighth in assists and eighth in steals.Â
ALL FIVE STARTERS AVERAGING IN DOUBLE FIGURESÂ Â
Currently, all five Wildcat starters are averaging in double figures in scoring. Brown leads the team at 17.6 points per game, followed by Zahir Porter (12.7), Seikou Sisoho Jawara (12.3), Dontay Bassett (10.3) and Cody Carlson (10.0).Â
Weber State has had five players finish a season averaging in double figures just three times in its history and the last time was the 1993-94 season.
BIG SKY RANKINGS Â Â
Weber State currently leads the Big Sky in field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage and assists. The Wildcats are also second in scoring offense, scoring margin and blocked shots and rank third in free throw percentage and 3-pointers made per game.Â
Individually, Weber State has three of the top four players in the conference in free throw percentage. Zahir Porter leads the league and is 28th in the nation at 88.5 percent from the line. Dontay Bassett is second at 84.6 percent and Isiah Brown is fourth at 83.7 percent. In addition, Bassett is fourth in the conference in blocked shots at 1.2 per game and Dillon Jones is fifth in steals at 1.5 per game. Â
SEASON TRENDS Â
The Wildcats are 10-0 this season when tied or leading at halftime and just 2-5 when trailing at the break. Weber State is also 12-1 when leading their opponent in field goal percentage but 0-4 when trailing. The 'Cats are also 8-1 when leading in rebounding and 9-1 when leading in assists.Â
Weber State has played just two games decided by five points or less, and the 'Cats are 0-2 in those games. WSU is 4-1 in games decided by 6-10 points and 8-1 in games decided by 11 or more points.Â
HOME SWEET HOME Â Â
The Wildcats are 8-0 at the Dee Events Center this season. It is just the third time in the 15 years under coach Rahe that the Wildcats have started the home season 8-0. WSU is one of just two teams in the Big Sky that has not lost at home this season. The eight game home winning streak is also tied for the 22nd longest in the country.Â
ABOUT NORTHERN ARIZONAÂ Â
Northern Arizona enters this week with a 5-11 overall record and a 4-6 mark in Big Sky play. The Lumberjacks have not played a game since January 29, a win over Northern Colorado. They have had their last five games canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.Â
Junior Cameron Shelton leads the Big Sky and ranks 10th in the nation in scoring at 21.6 points per game. Shelton is also seventh in the conference in rebounding at 6.2 per game, and ranks second in the league in steals, fourth in assists and seventh in field goal percentage.Â
NAU is coached by Shane Burcar who is in his first full season as head coach. He was the interim coach for the Lumberjacks last season.Â
SERIES HISTORY Â
Weber State holds an 81-30 all-time series lead over Northern Arizona and the Wildcats have won eight of the last nine and 21 of the last 24 games played in the series. The two teams split last season, each winning at home.Â
In games in Ogden, Weber State is 47-9 all-time against the Lumberjacks and has won five straight games.Â

After this week, the Wildcats have just four games scheduled this rest of the regular season. Weber State will play two games at Sacramento State next weekend, before closing out the regular season March 4 and 6 at home with Northern Colorado.Â
The Big Sky Tournament is scheduled for March 10-13 in Boise, Idaho. The top five teams in the league standings receive a bye into the quarterfinals. Â
