Fisher Leads WSU to 8th Place at Sac State Invitational

Reese Fisher shot a final round 4-under-par 68 to lead Weber State to an 8th place finish at the Sacramento State Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday at the Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove, Calif.

Fisher's 68, which included four birdies and an eagle, came after the senior posted back-to-back 1-under-par 71's in the tournament's first two rounds. For the event, Fisher carded 11 total birdies. His eagle came on the 360-yard, par 4 ninth hole, his final hole of the day. Fisher finished the tournament with a 6-under-par total score of 210 and in fifth place overall, just five shots off the lead.

As a team, the Wildcats recorded rounds of 291, 291 and 295 for a tournament total of 877.

Loyola Marymount posted a phenomenal 13-under-par 275 on the final day, rallying from a six shot deficit entering the final 18 holes to claim the team championship by two strokes over second round leader Long Beach State with a total of 840. Pacific finished another 20 strokes back at 862.

The Wildcats finished five strokes ahead of tournament host Sacramento State, the only other Big Sky school in the event.

Isaac Buerger tied for 30th overall as Weber State's second-best finisher. Buerger (71-73-75) recorded nine birdies over the tournament and finished with a 3-over-par total of 219.

Hayden Banz also shot an opening round 1-under 71, and added back-to-back 75's to finish the 54-hole event, finishing in a tie for 46th place at 5-over-par 221. 

Brody Childs (78-72-77) tied for 68th overall at 11-over-par 227, and Raphael Even-Hen (79-78-77) shot 234 to tie for 81st place to round out the Weber State team.

Loyola Marymount's Riley Lewis shot rounds of 64, 72, and 69 for an 11-under-par 205 to earn individual medalist honors. Lewis finished a shot ahead of Long Beach State's Clay Seeber, who finished second.

The Wildcats will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday as they travel to Spring, Tex. to compete in the Houston Baptist-hosted HBU Colin Montgomerie Invitational at Augusta Pines Golf Club.
