'Cats Take 20th at Wyoming Cowboy Classic

CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Weber State men's golf team wrapped up the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Tuesday at Whirlwind Golf Club in 20th place after shooting rounds of 298, 302 and 297 for a three-round total of 897.

San Diego State won the event, shooting 831 to finish six shots clear of second place TCU. Colorado finished another three shots back in third place.

Hayden Banz led the Wildcats with a tie for 64th place. The redshirt freshman opened the tournament with a 6-over-par 78, but came back to shoot 1-under-par over the final 36 holes with rounds of 71 and 72 for a total of 221. Banz carded seven birdies over the tournament, including three in each of the last two rounds.

Reese Fisher and Isaac Buerger each shot 223 to tie for 72nd place. Fisher shot 74-75-74, while Buerger posted rounds of 73-78-72. Fisher tallied five birdies in the tournament, and Buerger added a team-high 11 birdies, including five in his final round.

Brody Childs shot 238 to finish 113th overall, while Oliver Gothe shot 243 to tie for 116th place.

Stanford's Barclay Brown shot rounds of 70-67-65 for a 14-under-par total of 202 to earn individual medalist honors. Brown finished two shots clear of a trio of players.

The Wildcats will next head to Santa Barbara, Calif. where they will compete in the UCSB Invitational at Sandpiper Golf Club on April 12-13.
