Three Wildcats qualify for NCAA Championships

Summer Allen, Kate Sorensen and Lexie Thompson all qualify for NCAA meet.
Three Weber State women's track and field athletes are heading to the NCAA Championships. Weber State's Summer Allen, Kate Sorensen and Lexie Thompson all qualified for the national meet after their performances at the NCAA West Preliminary Meet in College Station, Texas.Â
Allen finished fifth overall in the 3,000 meter steeplechase to qualify for the NCAA Championships. She had a career-best time of 9:47.51 to finish fifth and earn a spot in the national meet. The time also ranks as the third-fastest in Weber State history.Â
Sorensen was also fifth in the 400 meter hurdles to qualify for the NCAA meet. She posted a seasonal best time of 57.59 to claim fifth in the event.Â
Lexie Thompson qualified in the 10,000 meters by finishing sixth in the event. She posted a time of 33:41.75 to finish sixth and reach the NCAA Championships.Â
Thompson followed that up by narrowly missing qualifying in the 5,000 meters. She finished 13th in the event with a time of 16:05.57 and missed qualifying for the NCAA's by 0.03 seconds.Â
All three athletes won Big Sky titles earlier this month at the conference meet in Ogden.Â
The top 12 finishers in each event qualify for the NCAA meet.Â
The NCAA Championships will be held June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.Â
Other performances at the meet included Paige Van Meeteren who finished 25th in the high jump. She had a jump of 5-07.75.
Billie Hatch finished 33rd in the 10,000 meters at 36:04.61. Cheyenne Leatham was also 33rd in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:29.06. Bailey Wall was 34th in the steeplechase at 10:36.49.
Two Wildcats qualified in the javelin. Lauren Olsen finished 42nd with a mark of 138-03 and Alyssa Hansen was 44th at 137-02.

Emily Morgan-King qualified and competed in two events. She finished 45th in the 100 meters at 11.67 and was 46th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.40.Â
