On Sunday afternoon the Weber State Wildcats suffered their second loss of the year after falling 1-0 to the Utah State Aggies (3-0-1).

The last time these two teams faced off was back in 2019 where Lauren McConnell scored the only goal for the Wildcats in a 2-1 defeat.

In the latest physical, bruising installment of the rivalry, the Aggies got the best of WSU by way of a 17th-minute goal.

Despite the loss, Weber State showed growth in the second half with an elevated level of aggressiveness on the offensive end that wasn't prevalent in their previous showing against UVU. The best showing of the year for the Wildcats was their 2-0 victory over K-State when they were not only decisive but efficient in their offensive approach. In the second half against the Aggies, they showed glimpses of their season-opening selves but just simply weren't able to find the back of the goal.

WSU will have another shot at putting the pieces together against the Dixie State Trailblazers next Sunday, Sep. 5 on the Wildcat Soccer Field at 1 P.M.
