This afternoon, the (1-2) Weber State Wildcats will kick off their third straight home game against the (3-2) Dixie State Trailblazers.Â
Today's clash will be the first-ever meeting between the Wildcats and Trailblazers which marks the second time that WSU has faced off against an unfamiliar foe with the first being the battle against Kansas State.Â
Dixie comes into Ogden with their 3-2 record after wins over UNLV, North Dakota State and Idaho State along with losses to Boise State and New Mexico.
Meanwhile, WSU will head into the match with a record of 1-2 after securing an electric 2-0 victory over the K-State Wildcats but then dropping back-to-back games against Utah Valley and Utah State.Â
The Wildcats' lone goals of the season came from Lauren McConnell who was assisted by Brynlee Meyerhoffer, and Morgan Furmaniak who was assisted by Amy Kenney. Kaytlin Bradley finished the night with seven saves and was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.
In that game, Kaytlin Bradley had seven saves and allowed zero goals which prompted her to be named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the WeekÂ
Head Coach Craig Sanders is now approaching his fourth game in his second season as the head of the Wildcats. Last spring he had a record of 4-3-3 in his inaugural season.Â
Also taking the field for the Wildcats will be a handful of goal scorers from the previous season in Taylor Slack, Andelin Baldwin, Yira Yoggerst, Kinsley Napoli, Harlee Turnbow, and Hailey Price as they each found the back of the net once throughout the spring.Â
Along with them are a couple of award winners from the previous season - Sadie Newsom was named to the Big Sky's All-Conference Second Team along with Price who was not only a second-teamer but also was the conference's newcomer of the year.Â
The Wildcats have struggled offensively throughout their last two games but they've shown glimpses of aggressiveness while on the attack, today they'll look to turn the tides and get back in the win column.Â
This match will be available on ESPN+ at 1 P.M. and will take place on the Wildcat Soccer Field.Â
