WSU Drops Pair Of Weekend Matches

Over the weekend, the Weber State Wildcats fought but ultimately came up short against both UNLV where they lost 2-1, and UC Riverside where they fell 1-0.

WSU kicked off their Friday night in Las Vegas where they were hosted by the UNLV Rebels. It was the fifth ever meeting between the Wildcats and Rebels as Weber State now trails the all-time series 1-4.

Weber State was looking to feed the momentum generated by their victory over Dixie State but found themselves down 2-0 within the first 15 minutes of the match. They were able to hold the Rebels without a score from that point on and eventually Lily Webster helped kickstart the comeback efforts with by scoring her first goal of the year in the 79th minute. Throughout the final 11 minutes, the 'Cats were unable to drill the equalizer and fell 2-1 in Nevada.

The Wildcats then traveled back to Ogden to prepare for their meeting with the UC Riverside Highlanders as Amy Kenney and Olivia Tucker both celebrated their birthdays on Saturday in the process.

On Sunday afternoon, WSU was back on the field to battle the Highlanders at the Wildcat Soccer Field. This was the first time the two programs had faced off and at the half the score was knotted up at zero apiece. In the second half UCR was able to find the back of the net in the 53rd minute and the 1-0 lead it gave the Highlanders would hold true throughout the rest of the match.

Weber State's record dipped to 2-4 after this weekends shortcomings but they'll have a shot at securing a pair of big-time road wins against Oral Roberts on Sep. 17 at 6 P.M. MT and Oklahoma State on Sep. 19 at 12 P.M. MT
