The Weber State women's cross country team opened the 2021 season with a competitive race at the CSI Classic in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The 'Cats lost by just one point to nationally ranked Boise State. The Broncos, ranked 14th in the nation, totaled 27 points, to narrowly edge out the Wildcats who had 28 points.

Weber State claimed the top two spots in the race with Summer Allen and Billie Hatch finishing first and second. The two Wildcats crossed the finish line together and were separated by just .1 seconds. Allen finished first at 18:03.6 and Hatch right behind at 18:03.7.

WSU had five of the top 10 finishers as Cheyenne Leatham finished sixth overall with a time of 18:28.0. Bailey Wall (18:45.1) was ninth and Rylie Lusk (18:46.0) finished 10th.

"It was great to be back running and competing against a nationally ranked team," said WSU head coach Paul Pilkington. "We had some great performances and I felt really good about our time spread as we were only 40 seconds from our first to fifth runners."

Weber State will be back in action on Saturday, September 18 at the Montana State Classic in Bozeman.
