Weber State Soccer Ready To Open Big Sky Tournament Against Sacramento State

On Wednesday afternoon, the fifth-seeded Weber State Wildcats will kick off the post-season against the fourth-seeded Sacramento State in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky tournament.

This will be the second meeting between the 'Cats and Hornets this year. The first matchup came on October 7 when Sacramento State secured a 1-0 win over the Wildcats.

Weber State won its last three contests of the year to clinch a spot in the conference tournament and earn the No. 5 seed in Greeley. Morgan Furmaniak, the 2021 Big Sky Newcomer of the Year, has scored five goals on the year with four of those coming during Weber State's current three-match win streak. This year Furmaniak earned Co-MVP, Co-Golden Boot, and All-Conference 1st Team honors.

The Wildcats leading goal scorers this season are Morgan Furmaniak (5), Brynlee Meyerhoffer (2), and Alexis Simpson (2). They've also received a goal from the likes of Grace Kirby, Alaina Wildenradt, Gentrey Gibson, Samantha Kearns, Ali Swenson, and Rachel Twede. Mekell Moss has recorded 54 saves this season with a season-high of eight saves against Montana.
