OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcat softball team continues its Big Sky Conference season with a three-game series against the Montana Grizzlies this weekend.
WEBER STATE (28-8, 6-0)
-Weber State holds a 15-9 lead in the overall series against Montana. The Wildcats have won the last two games against Montana (17-18, 5-4), and have won the last three games between the two teams in Ogden.
-The Wildcats have won six consecutive games overall and have won 10 of their last 12 games.
-For the first time since 2019 and the second time in program history, WSU has beaten three teams from power five conferences in the same season (Kansas, Texas A&M, Utah).
-WSU is currently in the midst of a season-long seven-game home stand that end on Tuesday, April 19.
-After a sweep of Southern Utah, the Wildcats swept the Big Sky Conference weekly accolades as Mariah Ramirez was named Pitcher of the Week, while Chloe Camarero was dubbed the conference Player of the Week.
Wildcat Pitching
-The Wildcat pitching staff currently has the best ERA in the Big Sky Conference at 2.97.
-Wildcat pitching has surrendered less hits, runs, doubles, triples, and home runs than any other pitching staff in the Big Sky.
-WSU pitchers have struck out 241 hitters, second most in the Big Sky, and 75 hitters looking which is the most in the conference.
-The Cats are only allowing opponents to hit .242, the lowest opponent batting average of any team in the Big Sky.
-The Wildcat defense is ranked 16th in the nation with a .976 fielding percentage.
-Ramirez was near flawless in her last outing, pitching a complete game one-hit shutout in which she tossed a conference record of 16 strikeouts.
-Arissa Henderson's 2.02 ERA is second best of any pitcher in the conference.
-Henderson leads the Wildcat pitchers with 98 strikeouts on the season.
Wildcat Bats
-With a collective batting average of .291, Weber State has the second highest batting average in the Big Sky Conference.
-Weber State has scored 207 runs this season and is averaging 5.75 runs per game, both are tops in the Big Sky Conference, and both put the Wildcats in the top 50 nationally.
-WSU has hit a total of 34 home runs this year, placing them in second in the Big Sky.
-Faith Hoe's .369 batting average leads the Wildcats and is fourth best in the conference.
-Camarero ranks in the top five in the Big Sky in slugging (.708), OPS (1.127), runs scored (30), triples (two), and home runs (10).
