Our Wildcat track and field team was back in action this week at the Weber State and University of Utah Spring Classics, a joint meet that was held at Chick Hislop Track & Field at Stewart Stadium on Friday and was finished at the University of Utah on Saturday.

On Friday's home track there were several performances that earned spots in the season rankings for both the Big Sky and the NCAA West Division. In the 100m hurdles, Cidnee Davies-Bohn ran 14.06 to earn a first-place finish and the number two time in the Big Sky this season. Emily Barnes-Sterzer finished third in the event with a PR time of 14.41 which currently ranks seventh in the Big Sky.

In the 400-meter dash, Windsor Moore-Whicker ran 58.85 which sits at number 12 in the Big Sky, and Angelyca Chapman moved to number 14 with her PR time of 59.00. Those were the major performances for the sprint events as half of them would take place the following day at the University of Utah.

Though Bailey Wall was competing unattached in the 3000m Steeplechase she was able to finish in the top spot at the meet with a time of 10:50.20.

In the 1500m run Cheyenne Leatham ran a 4:28.49 to claim the first-place finish and the number one time in the Big Sky this season when adjusted for altitude. Kami Withers ran a 4:41. 64 for the meet and her time with altitude adjustment ranks 19 in the Big Sky.

On home turf for the field events the team saw similar top marks in four events. Starting in the Long Jump where Alisha Ellsworth placed 3rd with a PR leap of 18' 8.50" which puts her fifth on the Big Sky list. Right behind her now in the sixth spot is Emily Barnes-Sterzer who finished sixth at the meet with her PR jump of 18' 7.25". Barnes-Sterzer also placed fourth in the high jump with another PR jump of 5' 4.5".

Throwers stayed on the PR train with Marissa Brunner-Schmidt throwing a new best in the hammer throw with a mark of 168' 6.75" which puts her tenth on the Big Sky list and finishing first for the meet. Lia Katoa followed her in second-place with another PR throw at 153' 3.75". Katoa also PRd her Discus throw with 137' 2" which was the number 12 mark for the Big Sky this season.

Lauren Olsen also put a PR mark on the hammer throw with her mark of 105' 1.50" and a fifth-place finish.

Kapua Pulotu took first in the discus and fifth in the hammer with the number three mark for discus in the Big Sky at 137' 2", and a throw of 144' 8.50" in the hammer.

The strong performances continued Saturday at the University of Utah with Brittany Cardall running a 12.09 100-meter dash to earn second place for the meet and the number 10 spot in the Big Sky.

In the 400m hurdles Emily Barnes-Sterzer finished just shy of her week-old PR time at 59.88 to take second overall for the event. Her time set last week still ranks first in the Big Sky for the event.

Kapua Pulotu followed her top finish in discus from the day before with another first-place finish in the shot put at 45' 5.25" which currently ranks number eight in the Big Sky. Lia Katoa threw 39' 5.25" to earn a second-place mark for the meet, and Lauren Olsen finished third in the javelin with a throw of 126' 8" to round up the top performances for the weekend.
