Weber State Finishes Fourth in Kelsey Chugg Invitational

EDEN, Utah – The Weber State women's golf team wrapped up the second annual Kelsey Chugg Invitational on Tuesday with a final round 300 to finish in fourth place at the Wolf Creek Resort Golf Course.
The Wildcats entered the round in fourth place, 14 shots off the lead held by Creighton. WSU rallied midway through the round, moving into second place and cutting the Bluejays lead to as little as five shots. Some late bogeys, however, dropped the team back to fourth position and Montana State made a strong push over the final stretch to finish in second place. Creighton held on to the lead, posting a final round 303 and a total score of 895.
Jessica Zelasko, who helped lead the Wildcats push with birdies on holes 12 and 14, finished with a 3-over par 75 and finished in a tie for fifth place overall at 7-over par 223 after rounds of 71 and 77 on Monday.
Aerin Song shot a final round 76 to follow up rounds of 73 and 75 from Monday to finish in a tie for 8th place at 224. Sophia Fuenmayor, who also made two birdies in the Wildcats run and added a finishing eagle, shot 1-over par 73 on the day to finish in a tie for 13th at 227.
Isabel Gutierrez shot a final round 76 and tied for 35th place overall with a total score of 234, while Rachel Lillywhite finished in a tie for 56th at 247.
Emily Song led a group of three Wildcat individuals, finishing in a tie for 39th place at 235. Sarah Hameed shot 241 to finish in a tie for 48th place, while Gabby DeNunzio shot a total of 244 to finish in a tie for 51st.
Montana State's Scarlet Weidig-Velazquez shot rounds of 74, 71 and 71 to finish with an even-par 216 to earn individual medalist honors. She finished four shots clear of Creighton's Katherine Lemke and Eastern Washington's Meghan Singh, who tied for second at 220.
