Weber State Takes 4-3 Victory Over SMC

Ogden, UT - Weber State men's tennis won, 4-3, against Saint Mary's College on Thursday at the Ogden Athletic Club. The win moves WSU to 4-3 overall. The squad secured the doubles point swiftly and moved on to singles play where competition got intense.
During doubles play, the 'Cats started off strong. On court three, the duo of Sebastian Buxman and Matteo Savio took the upper hand against their competitors finishing 6-4. Shortly following, Tristan Sarap and Jordan Coutinho battled to earn the doubles point for the 'Cats winning 7-6 and securing the 1-0 advantage. On court one, Weber State duo William Zulch and Connor Kruger also secured the point 7-5, making it a full sweep for the Wildcats.
As the match moved to singles, the 'Cats were ready to take on the Gaels. On court two, Tristan Sarap cruised through his match against Mathis Moysan, finishing 6-3, 6-1 awarding WSU their second point. SMC's Carlos Ramos won by retirement on court four, giving the Gaels their first point on the day. The third point for the 'Cats came on court one when Sebastian Buxman defeated James Watt 6-1, 6-4.
The fourth and final point of the day for the Wildcats came on court three, where freshman Connor Kruger went into a third set against opponent Caelan Potts 6-2, 1-6, 6-2. The remaining two matches on courts five and six fell in favor of the Gaels making the final score 4-3 for the 'Cats.
