KNOW THE FOE
DePaul (4-0, 0-0)
-This will be the third overall meeting between Weber State and DePaul. The last time the two teams met was in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2014. DePaul owns a 2-0 advantage in the series.Â
-DePaul comes into the weekend with a 4-0 record on the season after recording wins against Valparaiso, Bowling Green, St. Louis, and Evansville in the opening weekend of the season.Â
-OF Tori Meyer was named Big East Player of the Week after she drove in five runs on six hits in DePaul's tournament last weekend.
Illinois State (1-3, 0-0)
-Weber State has never played Illinois State in softball.
-The Redbirds went 1-3 in their opening tournament in Florida last weekend, recording an 8-3 victory over St. Joseph's and dropping games against Boston, Boston College, and No. 4 Florida.
Oregon State (2-3, 0-0)
-The Beavers and Wildcats have squared off three different times in the programs' histories. Oregon State has a 3-0 record in the overall series.
-OSU advanced all the way to the College World Series last season prior to dropping games against Florida and Arizona.
-Oregon State is looking to rebound after falling out of the top 25 last weekend. The Beavers won games against New Mexico and Nicholls, but fell in a separate matchup against UNM, and dropped a couple of games against LSU.
Grand Canyon (5-0, 0-0)
-The Lopes remain undefeated after their season opening tournament in San Antonio, Texas. GCU won all of their games against Green Bay, Incarnate Word, and Eastern Illinois.
-This will be the 14th game in the series between GCU and WSU. Weber State holds a 7-6 advantage in the overall series between the two teams, but GCU boasts a 6-5 edge in games played in Phoenix.
-Grand Canyon advanced to the NCAA tournament last season after winning the WAC tournament.Â
No. 22 Arizona State (4-1, 0-0)
-ASU comes into this weekend as the 22nd-ranked team in the nation.Â
-The Sun Devils hold a 2-0 series edge over the Wildcats, the two teams last meeting in 2019.
-Arizona State went 4-1 last weekend, its only loss coming to Notre Dame.
-ASU went 43-11 last season and was one win away from advancing to the College World series, falling in three games in the super regionals to Northwestern.
SISTER ACT
Weber State - a program that stresses the importance of family - practices what it preaches. The Wildcats feature a pair of sisters on their roster with Faith Hoe and Lauren Hoe, as well as Emily Ruhl and Sarah Ruhl. There are only six other teams in the nation that have a pair of twins on their roster (Arizona State, Colorado State, Northwestern State, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, UT Martin, Utah State), and only one other team (Arizona State) that has a set of twins in addition to another set of sisters.
CHASING HISTORY
Lauren Hoe's home run against Baylor moved her into sole possession of second place for most career home runs in Weber State history. She currently has 24 home runs and is ten behind the all-time record set Sarah Hingsberger.
ANY TIME, ANY PLACE
The Wildcats are facing what is certainly the toughest schedule in program history. WSU will be playing 15 games against teams that qualified for the 2022 NCAA tournament, and is slated to play ten teams who were ranked in the initial top 25 rankings of the 2023 season.
