-This will be the first time in program history that Weber State has played Baylor.Â
-The Bears finished 2022 with a 32-24 record, and won the National Invitational Softball Championship.
-Baylor is receiving votes in the first NFCA Top 25 poll of the year.
No. 7 Arkansas (0-0, 0-0)
-Weber State has played Arkansas twice before, the most recent game coming in 2018 in California - a 5-2 Razorback victory.
-Arkansas was ranked number seven in the initial 2023 NFCA Top 25 poll of the season.
-The Razorbacks hosted, and won, their regional in the 2022 NCAA tournament. Arkansas then hosted the Super Regional before dropping a pair of games to Texas.
-After posting a 48-11 record last season, Arkansas set a new school record for most wins in a single season en route to winning the SEC championship.
UNLV (0-0, 0-0)
-The two slated games between the Wildcats and Rebels will be the 16th and 17th games, respectively, in program history. UNLV holds an 8-7 edge in the matchup, but Weber State won both games between the two schools last season.
-The Rebels were picked to finish third in the Mountain West Conference preseason polls.
-UNLV advanced to the NISC championship game last year, but ultimately fell to Baylor.
FAMILIAR FACES
The Wildcats are led by four-time Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year Mary Kay Amicone. She is in her tenth season at the reigns of the Wildcat program and is the winningest coach in Big Sky Conference history.
Weber State returns eight players who were named to the 2022 All-Big Sky teams (Mika Chong, Makayla Donahoo, Faith Hoe, Lauren Hoe, McKell McCuistion, Emily Ruhl, Mia Rushton, Katelyn Whiting.)
CHAMPIONSHIP DNA
Last season, Weber State set Big Sky Conference records for overall winning percentage (.760) and conference winning percentage (.929) on their way to winning a sixth consecutive Big Sky Conference regular season championship, as well as the fourth Big Sky tournament title in program history.
ANY TIME, ANY PLACE
The Wildcats are facing what is certainly the toughest schedule in program history. WSU will be playing 15 games against teams that qualified for the 2022 NCAA tournament, and is slated to play ten teams who are ranked in the first top 25 rankings of the season.Â
