Wildcats Travel to OKC, Face Top-Ranked Competition

Weber State travels to Oklahoma City for what is probably college softball's biggest tournament of the weekend. The 'Cats will be playing in the Omni Hall of Fame Classic at the USA Softball Complex where they will play some of the toughest teams in the nation.

#19 Auburn (21-5, 1-2)
-Weber State and Auburn have never played each other before.
-Auburn, a team that qualified for the 2022 NCAA tournament, is off to a 1-2 start in SEC play after its opening series against a top 25 Georgia squad.
-Auburn's Bri Ellis ranks seventh in the SEC with eight home runs and is sixth in the conference with 28 RBI.
-Nelia Peralta has reached base in all 26 games to start Auburn's season

#1 Oklahoma (22-1, 0-0)
-Weber State and Oklahoma have played two times in school history, the last time coming in 2018.
-The Sooners come in as the defending national champions and have won four of the last six NCAA Softball championships.
-Oklahoma has seven wins over ranked opponents thus far this season.
-Oklahoma's lone loss comes against Baylor, a team that Weber State opened its season against.
-In a highly anticipated game, #2 Oklahoma played against #1 UCLA and the Sooners won the game 14-0 in five innings.

Northwestern (9-7, 0-0)
-This will be the first time in school history that Weber State has played against Northwestern
-NU is coming off a 2022 season in which it advanced all the way to the College World Series.
-Northwestern has been ranked in the top 25 for much of the 2023 season.
-The Wildcats have tallied ranked wins over #6 Texas and #18 Kentucky thus far this season.

SISTER ACT

Weber State - a program that stresses the importance of family - practices what it preaches. The Wildcats feature a pair of sisters on their roster with Faith Hoe and Lauren Hoe, as well as Emily Ruhl and Sarah Ruhl. There are only six other teams in the nation that have a pair of twins on their roster (Arizona State, Colorado State, Northwestern State, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, UT Martin, Utah State), and only one other team (Arizona State) that has a set of twins in addition to another set of sisters.

CHASING HISTORY

Lauren Hoe's home run against Baylor moved her into sole possession of second place for most career home runs in Weber State history. She currently has 25 home runs and is nine behind the all-time record set Sarah Hingsberger.

ANY TIME, ANY PLACE

The Wildcats are facing what is certainly the toughest schedule in program history. WSU will be playing 15 games against teams that qualified for the 2022 NCAA tournament and is slated to play ten teams who were ranked in the initial top 25 rankings of the 2023 season. In the Omni Hall of Fame Classic, Weber State is quite possibly facing the toughest weekend in program history.
