SUGAR LAND, Tex. – The Weber State men's golf team shot a field-best final score of 8-under par 280 on Tuesday to rally past Incarnate Word to take the team championship title at the Houston Christian University Colin Montgomerie Invitational at Sweetwater Country Club.
The Wildcats opened the tournament on Monday with rounds of 6-under 282 and 5-under 283 to sit in second place after 36 holes, and wrapped up the tournament with a 19-under par 54-hole total of 845 to finish six shots ahead of the field.
"So proud of this team," said WSU head coach Scott Erling. They haven't seen grass at home since November, but they come to practice every day and work hard. The payoff is a big win here at the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the spring, and to watching this group get better and better."
