Women's Tennis Wins 2023 Big Sky Championship

Weber State receives an automatic bid into the 2023 NCAA tournament.
Phoenix, AZ - The Weber State women's tennis team defeated the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks 4-2 this Saturday morning for the Big Sky 2023 Championship title and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Breaking NAU's three-straight Big Sky Conference Championship streak, this is the first time since 2000 that the Wildcats have captured the Big Sky victory.
After dropping the doubles point to the Lumberjacks, Weber State battled to earn their 4-2 victory in singles play.
The Wildcats soon jumped to tie up the match 1-1 when Ana Morett defeated Sofia Markova 6-2, 6-3 on court one. Following her teammate's lead and increasing their advantage by one, Kenadee Semenik won 6-2, 6-4 over Ava Neyestani.Â
Tying up the match, the Lumberjack's Daryna Shoshyna won 6-4, 6-2 on court four. To regain the lead for the 'Cats Megan Davies took the victory against Ana Karen Guadiana in three sets 6-1, 4-6, 6-0.Â
To clinch and win the Big Sky Championship for the Wildcats, Megan Lombardi battled against Patrycja Niewiadomska, and walked away with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 win and the 2023 Big Sky title.
