Women's Tennis To Open NCAA Tournament At No. 7 Stanford

Ogden, UT - Heading to the NCAA Tournament, the Weber State Wildcats will visit Stanford, California for a matchup with the No. 7 seed Stanford.Â
Weber State upended the top-seeded Northern Arizona Lumberjacks 4-2 in the Big Sky Women's Tennis Championship final, capturing their first tournament title since 2000. The victory sends Weber State to the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship for the Wildcat's second appearance in the tournament in 23 years. The program's first and only NCAA appearance in 2000 also came against Stanford as Weber State dropped a 6-0 decision.Â
Weber State (12-8, 6-2) takes on No. 7 Stanford (21-2, 10-0) in the opening round at 2:00 p.m. MT on Friday, May 5. The tournament will consist of 64 teams and 16 first and second-round sites for the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship. First- and second-round competition takes place May 5-6 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to a super-regional competition on May 12 or 13.Â
