'Cats Add Three Golfers in Recent Signing Period

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State women's golf program added three new players on National Signing Day last week. Joining the Wildcats in the class are Lexi Trummert of Puyallup, Wash., Erika Kobayashi of Portland, Ore. and Adley Nelson of Highland, Utah.

"I am very excited about this signing class," said WSU head coach Sara Hogue. "All three girls come in with a lot of tournament experience and golf knowledge. They are incredible people, hard workers and good students who fit exactly what we look for in recruits. They will be wonderful additions to our program and I'm looking forward to having them here next fall."

Trummert comes to Weber State out of Emerald Ridge High School, where she has lettered in golf four times. She has been a SPSL 4A league champion each year from 2022 to 2024 and was the league MVP in both 2023 and 2024. She was a First Team All-League performer from 2021 to 2024. She was the 2024 WJGA District 6 Championship individual medalist with rounds of 70 and 72 and finished in second place at the 2023 district tournament with rounds of 77 and 71. Her resume also includes tournament titles at the 2024 RMJT at Lake Spanaway and at the 2023 US Kids tournament at Wine Valley, as well as runner-up finishes at the WJGA Cup in both 2023 and 2024, the 2024 Tacoma Junior Amateur, the 2023 AJGA qualifier at Palouse Ridge and the AJGA qualifier at Bear Creek. She finished in eighth place at the 2024 WJGA Player's Open and was a quarterfinalist at the WJGA match play each of the last two years.

Kobayashi played her prep golf at Sunset High School, where she has lettered each of the last three years. She helped lead her team to the 2024 Metro League Championship and a runner-up finish at the 2024 Oregon 6A State Championships. She was the Metro League Player of the Year in 2023, earned First Team All-Metro honors and First Team All-State honors from 2022 to 2024. She was the 2024 Oregon Junior Stroke Play Champion and represented Team Oregon at the 2023 and 2024 Girls' Junior Americas Cup and at the North Pacific Junior Ladies Team Matches each of the last two years. Her resume also features four Oregon Junior Golf Major Championship wins across 2023 and 2024.

Nelson joins Weber State out of Lone Peak High School, where she has lettered each of the last three seasons. She helped lead Lone Peak to the 2022 Utah 6A State Championship title. She was a 2024 First Team All-State selection in 2023 and 2024 and added Second Team All-State honors in 2022. She has ranked in the top-10 in her region each of the last three seasons. She recorded four top-five finishes in 2024, including runner-up finishes at the Utah 6A State High School Championships and the Utah PGA Utah County Rumble. She finished sixth at the Utah Women's Open and was a semifinalist at the 2024 Utah State Junior Amateur.
