'Cats continue road trip at league-leading Eastern Washington Saturday afternoon

Weber State has won five straight games and take on the league-leading Eagles Saturday at 2 p.m. Pacific time (3 MT) in Cheney.
• After an incredible comeback win in the final minute on Thursday for their fifth straight win, the Weber State men's basketball team continues its road trip at league-leading Eastern Washington Saturday afternoon.
• The Wildcats and Eagles will tipoff at 2 p.m. Pacific time (3 p.m. Mountain) on Saturday from Reese Court in Cheney, Washington. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and the ESPN app. Weber State radio coverage with Steve Klauke will be on 103.1 FM "The Wave". • Weber State won its fifth straight game and improved to 17-9 overall and 8-5 in Big Sky play with a wild 70-69 comeback win at Idaho on Thursday night. The Wildcats trailed by seven points with 1:24 to play but then forced four Vandal turnovers in the final 1:09 and scored the final eight points of the game to secure the win.
Eastern Washington is 17-8 overall and 11-1 in Big Sky play, on top of the conference standings. The Eagles beat the Wildcats 80-78 on January 18 in Ogden.
• It was another memorable performance for Weber State standout Dillon Jones in Thursday's win. Jones had 29 points, tied his career-high with nine assists, and had six rebounds while playing all 40 minutes in the win. It was his 13th time scoring 20 or more points in a game this season, including the last five games for the Wildcats, all WSU wins. In the last five games, Jones is averaging 23.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game and is 39-44 from the free throw line.
• He leads the Wildcats in points, rebounds, assists, and steals, and ranks seventh in the nation with 15 double-doubles. Jones is now first in the Big Sky in scoring at 20.1 points per game and ranks second in the conference in rebounds and assists. He is also first in the Big Sky and ninth in the nation in minutes per game, ranks third in the league in steals and free throw percentage and is fifth in field goal percentage. Jones is one of four players in the nation currently averaging at least 19 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.
• In Thursday's win, Jones moved past Jermaine Boyette and Jimmy DeGraffenried into fifth place on the Weber State career scoring list. He currently ranks first in Weber State history in career steals, second in assists, third in rebounds, fourth in free throws made and fifth in points. Jones is the only active player in the country and the only player in Big Sky history with at least 1,500 career points, 1,000 rebounds, 350 assists, and 150 steals. He was the unanimous selection as the Big Sky Preseason MVP. He is a two-time first-team all-conference selection and a two-time all-district selection. He participated in the G League and NBA Draft combines this summer before returning to school.
• Dyson Koehler scored in double figures for the 16th time this season as he finished with 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting. Koehler is third on the team in scoring at 10.7 points per game and is averaging 12 points a game in Big Sky games.
• Weber State leads the Big Sky in scoring defense, scoring margin, 3-point defense percentage, and turnover margin. WSU is also second in 3-point defense, and third in free throw percentage and steals.
• Eastern Washington is on top of the Big Sky standings at 11-1 and is 17-8 overall. The Eagles lead the conference in field goal percentage, field goal defense, 3-point percentage, 3-pointers per game, and assists, and ranks second in the Big Sky in scoring offense, scoring margin, free throw percentage, rebounding margin, and blocks. EWU won the Big Sky regular season title last year at 16-2.
Eastern Washington is fifth in the nation in effective field goal percentage and eighth nationally in overall field goal percentage at 49.8 percent. The Eagles are also 20th in the country in 3-point field goal percentage at 37.7 percent.
• The Eagles beat the Wildcats 80-78 on January 18 in Ogden. The Eagles shot 54 percent from the field and outrebounded the Wildcats 3128. WSU made 11 3-pointers in the game and had three players in double figures.
• Eastern Washington has won four straight and seven of the last eight games played against Weber State, including the game earlier this season in Ogden. The Wildcats hold a 50-31 all-time series lead but EWU is 19-18 all-time in games in Cheney and have won three straight and four of the last five played at Reese Court.
• After Saturday's game, Weber State has just one game next week and will conclude the three-game road trip at Idaho State on Saturday, February 24.
