Men’s Tennis Falls to Utah State As They Head Into Conference Play

Ogden, UT — The Wildcat men's tennis team was shutout by #61 ranked Utah State as they now prepare for conference play officially beginning next weekend.
In doubles play, the Wildcats were able to take the No. 1 match behind the duo of Elyes Marouani and Tristan Sarap 6-3 before the doubles point came down to court 3 and Matteo Savio and Tuan (Ken) Minh. In this match, the comeback from Savio and Minh fell short as they lost the rubber match 6-4 to Alkotop and Martirosian. Savio and Minh fell behind early 5-2 before mounting a comeback that fell just short in the No. 3 match.
In singles play, the Wildcats were unable to secure any points toward the team as they were bested in all six of the singles matches. Elyes Marouani was able to push his match into the third set of the No. 2 match before ultimately coming up short. The Aggies were able to clinch the match on court 6 clinching their 4th total team point.
The 'Cats were unable to pull out the win against the ranked Aggies as the Wildcats debuted new uniforms featuring numbers for each of the players. They will now set their sights on conference play and will play host to Portland State next Saturday at the Ogden Athletic Club. The 'Cats come into conference play 0-1 after falling to Sacramento State earlier in the year. As for the Vikings, they come into the match 1-2 in conference after topping Eastern Washington but falling to both Montana State and Northern Arizona.
