Wildcats Top Vandals For 2nd Straight Conference Win

Ogden, UT — The Wildcat men's tennis team takes down Idaho Vandals 5-2 to win their second consecutive conference game.

"Good win today. Down 5-3 in doubles number 3 and came back to take the doubles point 7-6," Head Coach Brad Ferreira stated, "Connor played very well to put us ahead quickly then Ken and Zulch clinched it for us."

In doubles, the Wildcats split the first two matches with Elyes Marouani and Tristan Sarap taking the win in match No. 1 6-3. On court three, Matteo Savio and Tuan (Ken) Minh were able to claw their way back from down 5-3 to clinching the doubles point for the 'Cats with a 7-6 decision.

The Wildcats took 4 of the 6 singles matches to take the overall match with courts 3-6 all winning their singles matches. Connor Kruger made quick work of his opponent on court 3 taking it in two 6-1, 6-3. Tuan (Ken) Minh did the same on court 6 winning 6-2, 6-3. Jordan Coutinho and William Zulch were able to pull out nail biters in their matches as they took their second sets 7-6 and 7-5 respectively in order to pull out the wins in just two sets. William Zulch had the clincher in singles play for the Wildcats as they achieved their 4th team point with his 2 set win on court 5.

The win pushes the Wildcats to 2-1 in conference play on the young conference season as they will play host to 11-5 (2-0) Northern Arizona on Easter Sunday at 11:00am. Northern Arizona comes into the match number one in the Big Sky Conference standings and riding the wave of a 3 match winning streak. The 'Cats will look to put a stop to it when the two clash on Sunday morning.
