Wildcats Win Marathon Over Northern Arizona For Third Straight Win

Ogden, UT — The Wildcat men's tennis team won a thriller over Northern Arizona on Easter Sunday taking down the Lumberjacks 4-3 with the match coming down to a third set singles win by Tuan (Ken) Minh.
In doubles, the Wildcats fell on both courts one and two causing the duo of Matteo Savio and Tuan (Ken) Minh to go unfinished on court 3. Tristan Sarap and Elyes Marouani dropped their match on court one 6-3 while Connor Kruger and Jordan Coutinho came up short on court two by a score of 7-6.
In singles, the Wildcats took four of the six singles matches to overcome the Lumberjacks. Tristan Sarap and Elyes Marouani took their matches on courts one and two by scores of 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-4 respectively. The match then came down to the play of William Zulch and Tuan (Ken) Minh in matches five and six. Zulch took his match in two straight sets by scores of 6-1, 6-3. It was then that all eyes turned to Minh as the match was tied 3-3 and the winner of this match decided the winner of the whole game. Back and forth they went as the match went the distance to the third set before Minh was able to finally put it away after a forty second volley back and forth with his opponent. As Minh collapsed on the ground from exhaustion as his teammates rushed the court to celebrate the win, he took the match and the game 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
The Wildcats have now won three matches in a row pushing their overall record to 7-10 with a 3-1 mark in conference play. The 'Cats will be back on the road next weekend as they take on Montana, 12-7 (2-2), on Saturday and Montana State, 7-9 (2-2), on Sunday.
