‘Cats Drop Match to Grizzlies

Missoula, MT — The Wildcat men's tennis team dropped the first of two matches in Montana this weekend as they fell to the Montana Grizzlies 5-2.

The Wildcats made quick work of doubles play as Elyes Marouani and Tristan Sarap won their matchup on court one 6-1 and Jordan Coutinho and Connor Kruger took their match on court two by a score of 6-3. These two wins caused the third doubles match to go unfinished and clinched the team doubles point moving into singles play up 1-0 total.

In singles, the Wildcats were only able to take one of the 6 matches. The lone win came via the play of Tuan (Ken) Minh. Minh, fresh off of winning the Big Sky Men's Tennis Player of the Week award, won another grinder of a match taking his singles match up 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (11-9). This win gave the 'Cats their second and final team point of the day as the Griz were able to take the other four singles matches.

The team will now take the three hour drive from Missoula to Bozeman in preparation for their match with the Montana State Bobcats tomorrow afternoon. The Bobcats come into Sunday with a record of 8-9 (3-2) and fresh off of a 5-2 road victory over the Idaho Vandals.
