Weber State drops game to Utah

Ogden, UT - Weber State softball fought hard against the Utah Utes at the Wildcat Softball Field this afternoon, but ultimately fell 9-0 in five innings.

In a busy first inning for Utah, the Utes struck first at the Wildcat Softball Field as the team brought in three runs.
Mia Rushton doubled and advanced to third off an error in the bottom of the first to start the Wildcats off; however, unable to find any offense after that, the Utes were back at bat.
A lead off home run by Utah's Julia Jimenez in the top of the third gave them a 4-0 lead. Earning an additional run in the third, a single to center field brought home one more.
The scoring kept coming for the Utes as they claimed four more runs. The Wildcats were unable to bring any runs home in the bottom of the fifth and Utah claimed the victory 9-0.
Leading the Wildcats, Mia Rushton recorded two hits with three at bats.
Jayci Finch took the loss; she now sits 2-3 on the season.

COMING UP
The Wildcats return to the diamond April 12-13 for a three-game series against the Northern Colorado Bears in Greeley. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 2 p.m.
