The 'Cats wrapped the first day of a chilly Weber State Spring Open on April 5 with a first place team finish and a total of 73 points.Â
"It's always fun to have a home meet," head coach Corbin Talley said. "I thought we prepared well and were ready to go. It was unfortunate that we had such nasty weather and were unable to fully perform on our track & field."Â
Colter Blanchard, Kevin Kirk, Carson Horspool, Bronson Winter, Jamison Wilkes, Jed Smith, Josh Trafny, Cody Canard, and Xakai Harry were all honored as seniors during the meet.Â
Wesley Kallgren recorded a first place finish in the 3000 M steeplechase with a time of 09:50.00 and TJ Warnick finished second with a time of 10:02.08.Â
A handful of Wildcats finished in the top five of the mile with Kelton Gagnon leading the way with a first place finish and a time of 4.08.85, Peter Visser finished second with a time of 4:11.37, Winter finished third at 4:13.35 and Joe Corbridge finished fourth with a time of 4:16.35.Â
Jeims Molina finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 174-03.75, Jake Weathers finished third with a mark of 173-00.00 and Ryan Johnson finished seventh with a mark of 154-06.25.Â
"The highlight of the night was our senior recognition," Talley said. "This was a fantastic group of seniors who have given a lot to the program and pile up a number of school records, all-time marks, conference champions and all-conference performances. I am excited to see what they can do over the final months of their career."
The 'Cats will be back in action next week, competing in both the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University and the Long Beach Invitational April 11-13.Â
