Wildcats go 2-1 on weekend series against Vikings

Portland, OR - Weber State softball went 2-1 on the weekend series against the Vikings. Earning two wins on Friday and dropping a single game Saturday 8-3. The Wildcats are 5-1 in Big Sky play.

Weber State scored its two runs of the day in the first and second innings.
Abby Grundy singled to right field to bring home Kiaira Smith in the first and Taegan Smith scored on an unearned run in the second.
The Vikings had a big fourth inning, totaling four runs and taking the advantage away from the Wildcats.
Tacking on one more run in the top of the sixth, Grundy found home off of a ground out to third base.
Not finished there, PSU added an additional four runs in the sixth and the Wildcats trailed by five.
Unable to pull out a big inning in the top of the seventh, the scoreboard read 8-3 in favor of Portland State.
Weber State ended the weekend series against the Vikings 2-1.
Brooke Merrill took the loss, falling 8-7.
Grundy led the Wildcats this afternoon with two hits, one run, and one RBI.

COMING UP
The Wildcats return to the diamond Wednesday, April 10 for a single game against the Utah Utes at the Wildcat Softball Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
