Wildcats fall to Bears, bounce back in second game to eliminate Griz

Pocatello, ID - Weber State softball dropped an 8-0 decision in five innings this Thursday morning against the number one Northern Colorado Bears. Turning it around in their second game of the day, the Wildcats trounced the Griz 11-0 in five innings.
Game One - #5 Weber State 0, #1 Northern Colorado 8 (5 Inn.)
"I'm happy to see the fight to win against Montana in game two. Brooke Hatfield fought hard for us in the circle and we strung our hits together and throughout the lineup. There is no quit in these 'cats."

Game One - #5 Weber State 0, #1 Northern Colorado 8 (5 Inn.)
- With an early 1-0, the Bears took the advantage in the first inning off of a single up the middle.
- Increasing that lead in the third, the Bears E. Gonzales hit a home run bomb and advanced the team 3-0 over the Wildcats.
- Northern Colorado moved further ahead in the third using six hits to seize an 8-0 lead.
- The lack of offense for the Wildcats allowed the Bears an 8-0 victory in five innings.Â
- The Wildcats were first on the board when Mia Rushton found home plate after an Abby Grundy double.
- Makayla Donahoo smacked a home run in the bottom of the second and increased the 'Cats lead 3-0.
- It was all Weber State for the remainder of the game. The Wildcats brought in seven runs in the third inning and an additional run was scored in the fourth on a fly out to center field.Â
- With nothing for Montana in the top of the fifth, Weber State trounced the Griz 11-0 in five innings.Â
- Brooke Hatfield earned the win, allowing only four hits and recording one strikeout.
- Weber State totaled 10 hits, two coming from Rushton, Donahoo, Grundy, and Mariyah Delgado.Â
- Taegan Smith led the team in RBI with three.Â
