It's NCAA Championship week for Weber State's Josh Trafny.
Trafny is the only Wildcat competing at the 2024 NCAA Championships which will be held this week in Eugene, Oregon.
The Spanish Fork, Utah native will compete in the javelin at the championships which will be contested at 5:45 p.m. Pacific time (6:45 p.m. MT) on Wednesday, June 5.
He qualified for the NCAA Championships after his performance at the NCAA First Round meet on May 22 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He finished 12th in the event at the first round meet to earn a qualifying spot in the NCAA Championships.
Trafny is the first Weber State male athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the javelin since 1998.
He posted a mark of 226-0 in the first round meet.
Earlier this year, Trafny posted a career-best mark of 242-03 in the javelin, which is the second-best mark in Weber State history and the third-best in Big Sky history.
He also finished second in the event at the Big Sky Championships.
"Extremely proud of Josh for all he has fought through," said WSU head coach Corbin Talley. "The opportunity to compete at the NCAA finals is huge for him. He's worked hard and battled through a number of setbacks so it's very fulfilling to see him pull off a qualifying performance. I have been so impressed with how hard Josh and Cody (Canard) work. They show tremendous teamwork and passion for the Javelin. We're going to miss them a lot."
Trafny and teammate Coday Canard, are also qualified in the javelin for the US Olympic Trials, which will be held June 21-27, also in Eugene.
