Wildcats Finish Ninth in Season-Opening Dolenc Invitational

MADISON, Ill. – Weber State opened the 2024 fall season this week, posting a three-round total of 866 to finish in ninth place at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Gateway National Golf Links.

The Wildcats opened the tournament on Monday morning with a score of 296, but rebounded nicely in the afternoon, shooting the fourth-best score of the round with an 8-under par 276 to jump five spots into 10th place. The Wildcats picked up an additional spot in the 18-team field on Tuesday with a final round 294.

Matthew Wilson, a freshman from Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, led the Wildcat in his collegiate debut, posting rounds of 72, 66 and 70 to finish in sixth place with a 5-under par total of 208.

Bobby Kincaid finished 37th overall after posting a total of 4-over par 217. The sophomore transfer opened the tournament with rounds of 73 and 67 on Monday ahead of a final round 77 on Tuesday.

Cormack Goecke opened with back-to-back 74's on Monday and added a final round 73 for a 54-hole total of 221 to finish in 54th.

Ty Anderson bounced back from an opening round 81 with rounds of 69 and 74 to finish in 66th place with a total of 224.

Luke Smith rounded out the Wildcats with a total of 234 to finish in 91st place in his collegiate debut.
