Wildcats drop road game at Portland State

Weber State plays at Sacramento State Saturday afternoon.
PORTLAND - Portland State jumped out to a fast start and Weber State could not recover as the Vikings knocked off the Wildcats 74-56 Thursday night at Viking Pavilion.
Portland State never trailed and scored the first 12 points in the first 4:22 of the game. Weber State responded with a 9-2 run to cut the lead to five points. WSU trimmed the lead to four three times in the first half but the Vikings closed the half on a 7-2 run and led 39-29 at halftime.
PSU pushed the lead to 12 points early in the second half before a 9-2 Wildcat run cut the lead to five with 15:37 to play. But that was the closest the Wildcats would get the rest of the way.
The Vikings led 54-46 midway through the second half before a 6-0 run pushed the lead to 14 with 7:33 to play. Portland State closed the game on a 10-2 run for an 18-point win.
Portland State shot 49 percent from the field and held the Wildcats to 35 percent shooting. The Vikings outscored the Wildcats 50-18 in points in the paint. PSU also outrebounded Weber State 43-30.
After missing the last two games with an illness, Blaise Threatt returned to the lineup and made a big impact as he led all scorers with 22 points. He was 8 of 16 from the field, including 2 of 4 from 3-point range. He also had seven rebounds and four assists.
Threatt was the only Wildcat in double figures. Miguel Tomley added eight points with three assists and two rebounds.
The Wildcats will continue their road trip at Sacramento State on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is at 1 p.m. Pacific time (2 MT) on Saturday.
