1/28/2025 5:10:00 PM | Men's Basketball

Weber State will play the next four games at home starting Thursday night.

• Coming off a road win last weekend, Weber State begins a four-game homestand as the Wildcats return to Ogden to host Idaho on Thursday night.

• The Wildcats and Vandals will tipoff at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Dee Events Center in Ogden. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and the ESPN app with Tony Parks and former Weber State head coach Joe Cravens calling the action.

The Weber State radio broadcast will be on 103.1 FM "The Wave" with Carl Arky and former Weber State standout and Big Sky MVP David Patten on the call.

Live stats are available at WeberStateSports.com and the Weber State Wildcats app.

• Weber State is 8-13 overall and 2-5 in conference play. The Wildcats snapped a three-game losing streak with an 87-81 win at Sacramento State on Saturday.

• After playing five of the first seven conference games on the road (the most in the Big Sky), Weber State will close the conference season with seven of the final 11 games at home, including a four-game homestand starting this week. This will be the first time the 'Cats will play four-straight conference home games since 2014.

• In his return to action, Weber State senior Blaise Threatt was sensational in two road games last week. Threatt averaged 24 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in the two games and also shot 56.7 percent from the field with four 3-pointers. In Saturday's win at Sacramento State, Threatt nearly had a triple-double with 26 points, nine rebounds, and tied his career-high with seven assists, to go along with three steals.

 • Threatt continues to lead the Wildcats and rank as one of the top players in the Big Sky Conference. He has scored in double figures in all 19 of his games played, and has now reached 20 or more points six times.

He leads the conference and is 25th in the nation in steals at 2.3 per game. He ranks second in the conference in scoring at 17.6 points per game, and is also fourth in assists, fourth in assist to turnover ratio, fourth in minutes played, and seventh in field goal percentage.

• Weber State sophomore Viljami Vartiainen started for the sixth time this season and scored a career-high 22 points with four 3-pointers in Saturday's win. Vartiainen was 6 of 10 from the field, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range. It was his first time scoring more than 20 in a game and his sixth time reaching double figures this season.

The Helsinki, Finland native is averaging 7.0 points per game and has knocked down 34 3-pointers this season.

• Freshman Trevor Hennig scored 12 points on 3 of 5 shooting in Saturday's win, the fifth time he has reached double figures this season.

Senior Alex Tew added 11 points and was 4 of 4 from the field, with three dunks in the win. Tew has 15 dunks on the season, the most of any Wildcat.

• After knocking down 11 3-pointers in Saturday's win, Weber State is now first in the Big Sky in 3-point field goal percentage at 35.7 percent. The Wildcats are shooting 37.3 percent from 3-point range in Big Sky games.

WSU has made at least 10 3-pointers in five games this season.

• Weber State head coach Eric Duft released the following statement on Wildcat senior Miguel Tomley.

"We were informed that Miguel Tomley has been dealing with a serious medical situation for quite some time. While Miguel wanted desperately to make it through the season, the situation now requires immediate attention, and he will be stepping away from basketball to focus on his health. We told him that our basketball family and university will support him in any way possible. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family as he attacks this with the strength and competitiveness that has defined his career."

Tomley, a senior from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, has started in 20 games for the Wildcats this season and is second on the WSU team in scoring at 11.2 points per game. He previously played two seasons at Santa Clara and two seasons at Idaho State before transferring to Weber State last summer. He has scored more than 1,100 points in his 112 games in his college career.

• Idaho comes into Thursday's game at 9-12 overall and 4-4 in Big Sky play. The Vandals are the only team to beat Northern Colorado so far this conference season as they beat the Bears on a last-second 3-pointer 77-76 last week in Moscow, but lost 80-72 at home to Northern Arizona on Saturday. Idaho is 3-7 on the road this year.

• The Vandals lead the conference in 3-pointers per game, knocking down 9.2 per game. They are also second in the Big Sky in 3-point percentage at 35.2 percent.

• Idaho was 11-21 overall last season and finished ninth in the Big Sky at 5-13. The Vandals are coached by Alex Pribble who is in his second season at Idaho.

• This will be the 91st all-time meeting between Weber State and Idaho, two charter members of the Big Sky Conference. WSU holds a 65-25 series lead and the Wildcats have won the last four and 11 of the last 12 games against the Vandals.

Since Idaho rejoined the Big Sky in the 2014-15 season, Weber State is 13-5 in games against the Vandals.

• In Ogden, Weber State is 38-6 all-time against Idaho and the Wildcats have won five straight and 12 of the last 13 against the Vandals at the Dee Events Center.

• Weber State has nine players coming from six different countries on this year's roster.  The 'Cats have three players from Canada, two from Serbia, and one each from England, Finland, Montenegro, and Japan.

• The Wildcats continue the homestand on Saturday hosting Eastern Washington in a 1 p.m. tipoff at the Dee Events Center. Weber State also hosts Northern Arizona on Monday and Idaho State next Saturday.
