LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Weber State women's golf team made a final day rally at the Bowling Green State Women's Intercollegiate on Wednesday to take home the team championship of the event held at Wigwam Golf Club.

Weber State opened the tournament with rounds of 292 and 315 on Tuesday and entered the day in third place, two shots off the lead shared by UTEP and Abilene Christian. The Wildcats posted a final round 297 to post a tournament total of 904. The strong final round allowed the team to jump–and narrowly hold off–the Miners, who finished second, one shot back at 905. Abilene Christian finished in third place, another four shots back.

"The girls competed so well this week," said WSU head coach Sara Hogue. "This was a big win for us against a lot of quality teams. Our plan was to have smart course management being our first tournament out this spring. The girls did that very well, especially battling the cold weather and windy conditions. I couldn't be more proud of them and how they competed."

The Wildcats finished ahead of a group of Big Sky Conference opponents, including Idaho, who surged to the lead early in the round before sliding into a seventh place finish. The Wildcats also finished ahead of Big Sky programs Northern Colorado (9th), Montana (11th) and Idaho State (14th) as well as in-state rival Utah Valley, who came in 10th.

The Wildcats were led by Isabel Gutierrez and Emily Song, who each finished in the top-10 at 5th and 6th, respectively.

Gutierrez shot rounds of 75, 73 and 74 for a 9-over par 222. She carded 10 birdies during the tournament, including four in her final round.

Song, meanwhile, posted rounds of 70, 81 and 72 in an up-and-down tournament for a 10-over par 223. She recorded eight birdies, with three in her opening round and the other five coming in her final round.

Sofia Fuenmayor gave the Wildcats three players in the top-20 as she finished in a tie for 18th place with rounds of 74, 80 and 76 for a total of 230.

Cala Korman shot a total of 236 to finish in a tie for 45th place, while Jade Gruher shot 237 to tie for 49th place. Braylyn Bayer competed as an individual for the Wildcats and shot a total of 248 to tie for 71st.
